In 2000, St. Paul Venture Capital (SPVC) recognized a need to
identify and nurture promising technologies and business concepts that
did not follow their typical investment profile. In collaboration with
Quatris' four principals, SPVC provided the investment capital for Quatris
Fund I. Our joint mission was to leverage the entrepreneurial
talents of the four principals with the financial assets of SPVC to help
exceptional ventures get off the ground.
2000 - 2005 a very challenging period in which to launch a new fund.
And like all VCs, we had our disappointments, but we're proud of the promising companies that comprised our portfolio. These spirited start-ups
have not only survived in a difficult environment, they have thrived. This
is a testament to their superior innovation, sound business models and
skilled management. And we like to think we contributed to their
success.
We worked closely with our entrepreneurs to create a blueprint to take
the company through the critical stages of formation, strategy development,
market entry and expansion. We took the lead role in financing each
phase of growth; leveraging our collective networks to ensure the success
of each portfolio company.
