At Quatris, we see Cassatt as the prototype of our unique investment model. We provided the initial seed capital to a talented team of ex-Cray Research engineers and senior managers with the vision to capitalize on the rapid adoption of highly scalable commodity servers in the high-performance technical computing market. With the creation of Unlimited Scale, Inc., the founders leveraged their unsurpassed knowledge of massively parallel supercomputers to develop a scalable, ‘industrial strength’ version of Linux software that allows commodity computer clusters to be managed as a single system. Quatris was instrumental in helping the Company secure key strategic partners to establish a market presence.

While Unlimited Scale focused initially on the mature and specialized technical computing market, the Company kept an eye on the much larger opportunity in the mainstream enterprise market. With an investment from Warburg Pincus the Company was able to pursue this grander vision by transforming Unlimited Scale into what is now Cassatt Corporation. With Warburg's backing, Cassatt has recruited a world-class executive team and created a compelling enterprise software business model for “autonomic computing.” With its conviction that enterprise computing environments will be increasingly service-oriented and commodity-based, Cassatt offers software and services to increase business agility and computing flexibility while cutting cost and complexity.
